"We don't have a choice on whether we do have social media, the question is how well we do it" - Erik Qualman

Since the development of Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, we’ve seen how much they’ve radically changed the concept of socialising & networking. As a youngster, I’ve always delved more into the informal and never really bothered about the lasting image that I show.

In this blog, I’m going to share how I manage my social accounts. But I’ll only be focusing on two, which is Instagram and LinkedIn.

As I grew, I realized I’ve never really made my socials worthwhile. Yes, there’s a thing or two about me, but I always felt like I don’t have an impact on what I post.

Like every teenager, Instagram is my comfort zone; I post what I want, show them a side were I’m clumsy and whimsical, but it never displayed my strengths as a person.

So here’s how I revamped it:

Thinking about how I can appeal to others like me, I changed my style of posting. As an art enthusiast, I’ve focused more on editing, making it more graphically appealing.

And that’s how I started to build up on my personal branding.

People now know me as someone meticulous to details, artsy and a person with a creative eye. This helped me realize that I had to work on being presentable and focus on what I can show others, what I’m good at, and what I’m like.

LinkedIn is a professional space I haven’t completely tapped in.

It’s more serious compared to Instagram. And adjusting to it took some time. However, using LinkedIn gave a structured pathway on how I could show myself strategically.

Since I started Linkedin, I got more exposure to the professional world, which meant ‘I definitely need to work on my personal brand’. Because I finally understood the power of self-branding, building my connections had to be my priority, and to this day, it’s still in development.

My plan includes posting my accomplishments and connecting with professionals that are within my range of passion.

However, I also realized how both my formal and informal life were too drastic, and I had to make it more…well…proper.

So, I started to aim at three goals which others can follow:

1. Surround myself with people who will help me succeed

2. Collab with others that can give me experience

3. Reach out to potential people where I can develop a relationship
